NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course

NRA Instructor Led Basic Pistol Shooting Course at C.P. Tactical Solutions, Inc. Taught by dual NRA Certified Instructors / Range Safety Officers. Class focus is NRA gun & range safety rules, malfunctions, parts & operation of semi-automatic pistols & revolvers, ammunition, & marksmanship. Beginners will properly learn how to safely use a firearm. This class is also excellent for experienced shooters who want to improve marksmanship skills. The course includes needed classroom & range time to achieve safe handling & proficiency skills. Students will receive the Basics of Pistol Shooting Handbook & NRA course completion certificate. We provide semi-automatic pistols, revolvers & ammunition. Due to the specialized hands-on instruction, our enrollment limit is 10 students. During live fire the typical instructor to student ratio is 1:2.

Concealed Carry Course

Are you thinking of getting your concealed carry license, or do you currently have one and want to learn more about it? This course is an intermediate level course that will cover a variety of topics such as, Castle Doctrine/stand your ground, shoot/don’t shoot, proper transport of a firearm, proper use of cover and concealment, etc. We encourage the use of your personal firearm. 200 rounds are required and can range from .380-.45 cal, along with outside of waistband holster and magazine holder. A certificate will be awarded upon completion.

One of the prerequisites shown below are needed in order to take this course:

  • At least 3 private lessons

  • NRA basic pistol course/Women’s Intro to Pistol or Revolver

  • Retired or Active LEO or Military

HR 218 LEOSA Qualification Course

This course is designed for retired Law Enforcement Officers wishing to qualify with their firearms to carry in all 50 states.

  Mike has been employed by CP Tactical Solutions, Inc. as a firearms instructor since January of 2019. He began gathering the knowledge for this position when he entered the U.S. Army at eighteen years of age as a Stinger Man Portable missile gunner in the field of Air Defense. Later in his military career he transitioned to the job of Infantryman. In total, he spent twenty-two years serving our nation and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania through the National Guard with four years of active duty and eighteen years of reserve duty, which included a tour to Iraq in 2006 - 2007. Mike also acquired a Pennsylvania Act 120 certification by attending the police academy in Harrisburg, PA and has now served the residents of Bern Township for over twenty years as a police officer. In 2016 he was promoted to Patrol Sergeant. During the course of his career Mike has been appointed to position of firearms instructor after being certified by the NRA as a law enforcement trainer in both pistol and rifle. He holds certifications in many areas to include TASER, active shooter response and police tactics. He has also been a member of a tactical police team here in Berks County since May of 2012 and has served as an assistant team leader on that organization since 2015. He holds a B.S. Degree from Kutztown University in Secondary Education and M.S. Degree from Wilmington University in Administration of Justice with a concentration in Homeland Security. Currently he is an adjunct professor at Reading Area Community College teaching criminal justice. He is always seeking to further his knowledge base and looking for ways to improve his skill set.

Matt has been in law enforcement for over 28 years. He has been law enforcement instructor in handgun, shotgun, and patrol rifle for the past 15 years. He is also an instructor in use of force, baton, and handcuffing. His background in training includes building searches, SWAT training, active shooter, among several other tactical applications. Since coming on board with CP Tactical Solutions, Matt has attained NRA requirements for civilian instruction and currently teaches Basic Pistol, Rifle, Defensive Pistol, In Home Defense, and other self defense courses as well as gun safety courses to adults and children. He also is available for one on one personal range instruction.

Matt’s “Practice Perfect” philosophy has been a benefit in sharpening shooters’ skills. He relates his work to being the “Shooter’s Chiropractor”. Conveying understanding, knowledge of fundamentals, confidence and pure enjoyment is his basis for instruction.
